Science 15 : Watch out for the simple killers!

Hey, want to know some simple killers? Don't be surprised! Here's the lists and why :

  1. Electronic games : Games(online or no internets) are just killing your eyes. These games stuff makes your eyes tired. Did you know... that most of the young patients has eyes problem? So then, try to less gaming on your electronic devices.
  2. A very very cozy chair/bed : Really? well, that almost give me a loud laugh (LOL) right? Well, the effects of a very very cozy chair/bed is making you lazy to move and wants you to stays in your very very cozy chair/bed. The effects of laziness is less moving/activity(sports,etc.). And the long effects is diseases. You can have a risk having a heart attack, obesity, or diabetes. And when you get one of the disease, you are ready to go to the grave faster.
  3. Sweets at night : Don't you dare to eat sweets before going to bed. "But I can brush my teeth later after eating one." Yeah, it's only you see it lightly. The problem is sweets containing sugar. Sugar is one of energy needed. But when it's not used, it'll be stocked to your blood. What the real problem is you could have a risk of diabetes. And more add plus you don't brush your teeth, I'll see you and laugh you 'cause your tooth are full of hole.
  4. A Heavy Backpack : You could decreasing your height with this, just careful, don't too be short.
Okay, that's what I know. Just my advice : don't try this at anywhere, homes, hotels,or villa.

Science 14 : Opposite Directions

Do you know that every force (with directions) have an equal opposite directions? Well, it is already explained in Newton's 3rd law of motion. "Every directed force has an equal opposite directions". For some proof;

  1. You stand on the ground on the earth.(Your force is directed to up, but gravity pulls you down)
  2. You're holding a big stick about 2 meters high. But your friend kick at the bottom of the stick and the upper parts of the stick goes to your friend's head.(Yeah, this is what happening to me. I hold a stick, and 2 naughty students try to kick the bottom parts. One of them got his head knocked but I was blamed. I'm trying to explain it was the opposite force reactions. And he doesn't know, 'cause this happens when I was in grade 5. The name of the person is Andrean Salim. He makes Youtube videos too. And yeah, I don't know if now he knows about this... I don't like students at my elementary schools well. I explain them scientifically what's causing this, but they all blame me up. So that's why I decided to go to another school when I was in Middle School.)
  3. And many else...
And this is the formula : F=m.a
Try to remember it....

Science 13 : Stop the Fire Petrol !

This time, I heard in TV there is one person filling up some oil gas for his journey. But he didn't notice that his tank is made of plastic and he fill it p in the back of a mini truck car. Because the tank made of plastic, it generates static electrics. If he's on the ground, he's still okay. But at the back of mini truck, The electric statics burst out and made fire. And for the worse part, the petrol accidently got his pants. And he's on a fire (This man is on fire...). So, what should you do? I give you a hint : To make such hard to out fire, there is a triangle that contains Heat, petrol, and oxygen. One of the elements must gone so the fire stop. Can you guess? If your answer is "pour him a water!" That's just a mistake. You must know that oil is lighter that water. If you saying "Beat the fire out and fan it!" then you wrong. Fire eats oxygen and it just make the fire goes bigger. But if you say "Put the fire out by cover it with this blanket!" and you're a life saver. By knocking down oxygen, the fire will off. But don't try it with your jackets, More bad things will happen.

Science 12 : Twinkle Twinkle Little Stars....

Before to the topic I'll explain, here's a song for you all :
Twinkle twinkle little star
How I wonder what you are
Giant thermonuclear reaction
Held by gravitational attraction
Twinkle twinkle little star
You look small 'cos you're so far

As you burn through constant fusion
Your twinkle's just an optical illusion
That happens when your light gets near
Gets distorted by our atmosphere
Twinkle twinkle little star
Spreading light and heat so far

As you use up fuel you'll grow
And give off a scarlet glow
Maybe you'll go supernova
Exploding elements all over
Now I know what just you are
And I know I'm made of stars

Done singing the song? It's just not an ordinary one. It's also explaining our topic in big lines. Okay, we'll discuss it one by one :

  1. Star is a massive, luminous sphere of plasma that held together by it's own gravity. A star shines due to thermonuclear fusion of hydrogen and helium in it's core.
  2. Star looks small in our sky. Why? because the distance between the star and the Earth is far. If you want to see it a little bit close, just look at sun (a.k.a our nearest star).
  3. Stars look like that bright in our Earth's sky, right? Even the song say it as an optical illusion. Why? It's because of the atmosphere.
  4. As stars gets old, it'll grow and more bright like scarlet. When the time is ready, the star will become a supernova (a.k.a death for the star), it means the star is exploding. Even in the outer space beyond our limits, there is a grave for death stars. Death stars can become a black hole.
  5. Some of materials that made a human body are from the death stars! Surprised? But it's a true story. I can't explain it, but it is true.
Okay, that's all of it for our topic. Thanks for visiting my blog.

Science 11 : Cursed or Science?

Who in here believes in curses? Who knows about the curse of Tuthakhamun? Everyone knows it. You believe the death of the diggers and the person who discover this cursed? There should be a science explanation behind this. If you ask it why the first person dies, maybe this could be the answer. About my researches, this kind of Fungus could be the answer. Here's my explanation :

  1. The tomb was buried thousands years ago. There is a chance that dangerous and poisonous fungi live as a spore. The spore won't flying because there is no winds blowing to help it float.
  2. There is a chance that the person didn't use a special suits to protect itself. Because the explorer came, spores begin to float like dusts. In the effects, the person who didn't wear any suits will die because the spores growth into mushrooms that ruins it's lungs. And the type of the mushrooms is destructive and poisonous.
I could say this as a very scientifitical answer that only I have. In every events in this galaxy, there is science working hidden it. Remember, there is no such thing as a curse.

Science 10 : Art of Titanium

So, do you know Titanium? Titanium is one of type of steel. It's lighter than steel, anti-corrosive, natural color changing like (like light effects in bubbles) and very strong. It is one of elements in periodic table. Also one of the materials for building the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao. The idea was taken from a Russian submarine. But let's go to the topic. You want to know more? The website is here :
  1. About Titanium : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Titanium
  2. About the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guggenheim_Museum_Bilbao
Sorry that I can't make it more simpler. It only for this time. But thank you for understand.

Science 09 : Let's make some yogurt!

I've tried this before in school. So my class have a yogurt party! But... the real yogurt is very sour and I guarantee you'll have a nice sour face after you eat it. So, to make this you need a :

  1. Plain milk
  2. A pan
  3. Plain yogurt
  4. Sterilized Tupperware
  5. Sterilized spoon
  6. Thermometer
  7. Stove
How to make it :
  1. Put the plain milk in the pan, boil it until the temperature reaches 50 Celsius.
  2. After it reaches 50 Celsius, add 3 spoons of yogurt then turn off the stove then cool down the milk until it reaches 30 Celsius. When waiting, stir the mixed yogurt and milk.
  3. After it cools until 30 Celsius, turn of the stove. Then, pour the mixtured yogurt milk into the sterilized Tupperware. (Why sterilized? Because if not too sterilized, other organism that not supposed on the yogurt will grow and the good bacteria that supposed making good yogurts death)
  4. Put it in a cool place for 2 or more days.
  5. After it's done, you can directly eat it or mix it with fruits, jams, and of course ice cream. If you think to eat it directly, you will taste a deathly sour taste (nah, just kidding. But it is really sour!)
Here's a challenge from me : Try to eat a direct fresh yogurt from the Tupperware. If you can handle it, you are a person with a strong tongue! He...he... nevermind. It's just a joke. By the way, making your own yogurt is't that easy. Last time, my teacher see fungus floating in 2 from 3 yogurt in our Tupperware. So if you still insist, I'm not going to stop you. Wish you luck if you want to make it.

Science 08 : Friction Power

Do you believe that friction is one of the science with amazing experiments ever? Then, let's know friction first. Friction is one of the contact force type in physics. Without friction in this world, everything will be slippery instantly and no more sports(except for water sports). So one of the awesome experiments on friction power is the 2 phone book that each pages were stacked together. once you do that completely, you can't separating the 2 phone book. Even, with that much power you can lift up a car with the phone book stacked together. Believe me or not, it's a cool science of friction.

Science 07 : Water

Everyone knows this, right? Water is one of an important source of life in the world. 70% of human body is actually water. You can't survive without drinking water everyday, and lessing drinking water could make some problems for you, like dehydration or even death(not drinking water for more than 2 days). Top of mountain have clean and cold water. It is also as a water source. Not every mountain, some contains hot brimstone contained sulfur and stay at the water for a short time is healthy. If you long time in the sulfur water, you will pass out. Water in chemistry writed as H2O, a compound between 2 elements; 1 Hydrogen and 2 Oxygen. Water is also an universal solvent. But now, most of the water in the world now are polluted. Polluted water could bring diseases, even cancer or death. The worst history of water pollution is in Minamata bay, Japan. A factory dispose a dangerous waste known as Mercury. It kills thousands of people. Not only mercury can polluting water, there is also radioactive waste, iron, Fluoride, black tin, nitrate, garbage, and anything else. Also, the stock of clean water is decreased because the forests and trees are decreased. Why? Trees could store waters. Sun's heat make the water from trees evaporating (called Transpiration) and condensation happen in the sky and forming a cloud. The cloud getting heavier and then raining is happening. So, what happen if there is no trees? The answer is like a Sahara dessert and like Atacama dessert. Atacama is known as the driest place in the world because rain is rarely happen. So, do you want your place hot like desserts? If you don't want, plant some trees and don't waste water and polluting water. Because..."WATER IS ONE OF OUR IMPORTANT SOURCE OF LIFE"

Science 06 : Acids and Alkalies

Did you know soda drinks, right? Now, have you ever wonder why don't drink too much? Then, let's know about acids and alkalies. In a Ph (Power of Hydrogen) meter instrument as known as Litmus Paper, you will find that a soda drink has a medium acids. The Ph of soda drinks are 2,8. For stomach acid, the Ph is 2. Now, what is Ph meter? How does it work?Ph (or Power of Hydrogen ) metering instrument is a Litmus paper. To test an object is acids or alkalies, make the object to liquid and put 2 Litmus paper (one blue, and one red) into the liquid. If the litmus paper didn't turn into other color(red/blue), it means the Ph is 7 or Neutral. If it's lower than 7, it means acids.
Acids are sour(sometimes), and can be corrosive if they are strong, even can "eat up" metals and flesh. There are 4 types of acids :
  1. Strong acids : 0-2.
  2. Medium acids : 3
  3. Weak acids : 4-5
  4. Very weak acids : 6-6,9.
To neutralize acids, use alkalies. Alkalies is an opposite of acids. Alkalies in Ph meter is higher than 7. Alkalies are bitter, and can be corrosive too if they are strong, even could burn skin. There are 4 types of alkalies :
  1. Very weak alkalies : 7,1-8
  2. Weak alkalies : 9-10
  3. Medium alkalies : 11
  4. Strong alkalies : 12-14

Science 05 : Which Enviroment Situation That Can Broke Your Glue At You Shoes Quickly?

Have you ever try to play soccer with your favorite soccer shoes? If you ever try, have you ever try in 3 different situation? Well, try in this 3 situation of the field : Dry ,Raining ,and Seawater 3 Cm  flood. But don't be suprised, seawater is the answer. It broke down glues quickly and your shoes are broken. A normal water could do the same as the seawater, but it'll need more longer time than using seawater. So, I said now to you : Don't used shoes when you are near the sea or playing rains with your shoes, especially if that shoes are very important to you.

Science 04 : Safe Simple Electric Light

Some person maybe afraid of dark when they going to sleep, so they buy night lamps. Some person maybe already start to think "Hmm, I think I better make it by myself. But how?". If they're gonna ask that, I'll answer it. But first, you need to learn electricity flows. All thought, you should read books to know about this better. But now, I'll help you to make one. First, you need this things on the lists :
  1. Mini light bulbs for experiments(note: the light bulbs must able to light by batteries power)
  2. Batteries Holder ( 4 Batteries holder )
  3. 4 Batteries size AA
  4. A medium size box ( Don't use big boxes, you'll need more batteries & light bulbs for that )
  5. A tracing transparent paper (I mean the paper you'll able to trace something manually by your hands)
  6. Cables
  7. Light swich
  8. A Pencil
  9. An eraser
  10. A Ruler ( at least 30 cm )
  11. A Glue
  12. Decorative materials
  13. Scissor / Cutter ( I recommend to use scissor )
How to make it :
  1. Draw any picture you like in the transparent tracing paper. Note: you can decorate the picture too by using color pencils or markers, even you can use a dust glitter.
  2. Cut a hole shaped rectangular in the box, but make it like a frame.
  3. Now, rearrange the light bulbs with the cables and the light switch. Then, attach it to the box. Make it see-able by the hole.
  4. Attach the picture you draw in the transparent tracing paper using a glue in the box, right in front of the hole.
  5. Decorate the box using any decorative materials you want
  6. Now you get your own night light in box shaped.
If you are creative enough, you could turn it into any shape you like or if you want to have a Christmas type lights, you can use a color changing lights and no box used. So just simply used a color changing lights and connect it to the cable and the battery holder and the light switch. I guess that's all I've got in here. Well, thank you for reading this until the end of pages.

Science 03 : Homemade Cold Mist + Extra

Hmm... seems interesting to feel a cold mist, especially you made it by yourself. So, to make the Homemade Cold Mist, you will need :

  1. A big wide transparent bowl
  2. Some Dry Ices
  3. Water
  4. Something to grab the Dry Ices
  5. *Soap(note: it doesn't important, except if you want to make soe bubbles)
How to make it :

  1. Prepared some water in the transparent bowl
  2. Using any instrument, grab a dry ice. Bigger the ice, the long the mists. (note: don't touch dry ices using hands, DANGEROUS!!!)
  3. Put the dry ice into the water in the bowl
  4. You have a Homemade mists.
Now, if you already try to make it and you think it's boring, then here some my advice to make it more interesting:

  • You can add some soap. It'll make bubbles for you
  • Add some lights that able to change colour below the bowl, then turn off the light. I recommend to not used any soap.
  • Add some food colour. Note: you can combined it with colour changing lights like in the 2nd recommendation.
That's all for the Homemade Cold mists. If you want to try, careful for the dry ices. Good luck for trying this at home.

Science 02 : What Shouldn't You Do When In A Gas Station?

This time, we are going to discuss about gas station. In every gas station, there will be a warning : "Do Not Used Cellphones While In Gas Station". Is that really true? Well, it's already tested by pouring a petrol ( or some kind of thing ) in a caravan with a cellphone inside it. When from outside, a person rings the cellphone. It isn't working, even witm many cellphones. But instead, they try to used a wire and a person with nilon clothes. The person with the nilon clothes asked to make electric statics then touch the wire. Actually, It did! Why? Electricity sparks a fire. Petrol ( Or some kind of thing ) will burst up if there is a fire. So next time, don't used a nilon clothes when you are in a gas station, or you will toast.

Science 01 : Backfliping

If you try to do some backflip, I don't think you can do it instantly. Only experts can do that. But, there is a science behind a perfect backfliping. First, you need to jump in the air. In the air, you need to bend your knees. It will accelerated the speed of the rotation. Then, land it perfectly with standing legs. If it fails to stand, you will fall. Now don't you dare to try yoursself backfliping without help from experts, or you'll get injured or even worse.

Welcome to the Blog Where You Can Find Science Stuff & Facts!

Hi, my name is Natasha Setianto. This is my 3rd blog that I made. In this world, things that going on in this world can be related to science, even for a simple example like our daily live. Now my question... do you love science? Do you still wander to the science world? Then, find it out here! If you want to ask, just write it in comment column in every new posts. Some information that I give in this blog will sometimes from another source or You Tube videos that later I'll make it more smaller & easy to understand. Or some I'll get from books then I'll make it shorter & easy to understand. So, let's begin the adventure of science!
