Science 13 : Stop the Fire Petrol !

This time, I heard in TV there is one person filling up some oil gas for his journey. But he didn't notice that his tank is made of plastic and he fill it p in the back of a mini truck car. Because the tank made of plastic, it generates static electrics. If he's on the ground, he's still okay. But at the back of mini truck, The electric statics burst out and made fire. And for the worse part, the petrol accidently got his pants. And he's on a fire (This man is on fire...). So, what should you do? I give you a hint : To make such hard to out fire, there is a triangle that contains Heat, petrol, and oxygen. One of the elements must gone so the fire stop. Can you guess? If your answer is "pour him a water!" That's just a mistake. You must know that oil is lighter that water. If you saying "Beat the fire out and fan it!" then you wrong. Fire eats oxygen and it just make the fire goes bigger. But if you say "Put the fire out by cover it with this blanket!" and you're a life saver. By knocking down oxygen, the fire will off. But don't try it with your jackets, More bad things will happen.

Science 12 : Twinkle Twinkle Little Stars....

Before to the topic I'll explain, here's a song for you all :
Twinkle twinkle little star
How I wonder what you are
Giant thermonuclear reaction
Held by gravitational attraction
Twinkle twinkle little star
You look small 'cos you're so far

As you burn through constant fusion
Your twinkle's just an optical illusion
That happens when your light gets near
Gets distorted by our atmosphere
Twinkle twinkle little star
Spreading light and heat so far

As you use up fuel you'll grow
And give off a scarlet glow
Maybe you'll go supernova
Exploding elements all over
Now I know what just you are
And I know I'm made of stars

Done singing the song? It's just not an ordinary one. It's also explaining our topic in big lines. Okay, we'll discuss it one by one :

  1. Star is a massive, luminous sphere of plasma that held together by it's own gravity. A star shines due to thermonuclear fusion of hydrogen and helium in it's core.
  2. Star looks small in our sky. Why? because the distance between the star and the Earth is far. If you want to see it a little bit close, just look at sun (a.k.a our nearest star).
  3. Stars look like that bright in our Earth's sky, right? Even the song say it as an optical illusion. Why? It's because of the atmosphere.
  4. As stars gets old, it'll grow and more bright like scarlet. When the time is ready, the star will become a supernova (a.k.a death for the star), it means the star is exploding. Even in the outer space beyond our limits, there is a grave for death stars. Death stars can become a black hole.
  5. Some of materials that made a human body are from the death stars! Surprised? But it's a true story. I can't explain it, but it is true.
Okay, that's all of it for our topic. Thanks for visiting my blog.

Science 11 : Cursed or Science?

Who in here believes in curses? Who knows about the curse of Tuthakhamun? Everyone knows it. You believe the death of the diggers and the person who discover this cursed? There should be a science explanation behind this. If you ask it why the first person dies, maybe this could be the answer. About my researches, this kind of Fungus could be the answer. Here's my explanation :

  1. The tomb was buried thousands years ago. There is a chance that dangerous and poisonous fungi live as a spore. The spore won't flying because there is no winds blowing to help it float.
  2. There is a chance that the person didn't use a special suits to protect itself. Because the explorer came, spores begin to float like dusts. In the effects, the person who didn't wear any suits will die because the spores growth into mushrooms that ruins it's lungs. And the type of the mushrooms is destructive and poisonous.
I could say this as a very scientifitical answer that only I have. In every events in this galaxy, there is science working hidden it. Remember, there is no such thing as a curse.

Science 10 : Art of Titanium

So, do you know Titanium? Titanium is one of type of steel. It's lighter than steel, anti-corrosive, natural color changing like (like light effects in bubbles) and very strong. It is one of elements in periodic table. Also one of the materials for building the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao. The idea was taken from a Russian submarine. But let's go to the topic. You want to know more? The website is here :
  1. About Titanium : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Titanium
  2. About the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guggenheim_Museum_Bilbao
Sorry that I can't make it more simpler. It only for this time. But thank you for understand.

Science 09 : Let's make some yogurt!

I've tried this before in school. So my class have a yogurt party! But... the real yogurt is very sour and I guarantee you'll have a nice sour face after you eat it. So, to make this you need a :

  1. Plain milk
  2. A pan
  3. Plain yogurt
  4. Sterilized Tupperware
  5. Sterilized spoon
  6. Thermometer
  7. Stove
How to make it :
  1. Put the plain milk in the pan, boil it until the temperature reaches 50 Celsius.
  2. After it reaches 50 Celsius, add 3 spoons of yogurt then turn off the stove then cool down the milk until it reaches 30 Celsius. When waiting, stir the mixed yogurt and milk.
  3. After it cools until 30 Celsius, turn of the stove. Then, pour the mixtured yogurt milk into the sterilized Tupperware. (Why sterilized? Because if not too sterilized, other organism that not supposed on the yogurt will grow and the good bacteria that supposed making good yogurts death)
  4. Put it in a cool place for 2 or more days.
  5. After it's done, you can directly eat it or mix it with fruits, jams, and of course ice cream. If you think to eat it directly, you will taste a deathly sour taste (nah, just kidding. But it is really sour!)
Here's a challenge from me : Try to eat a direct fresh yogurt from the Tupperware. If you can handle it, you are a person with a strong tongue! He...he... nevermind. It's just a joke. By the way, making your own yogurt is't that easy. Last time, my teacher see fungus floating in 2 from 3 yogurt in our Tupperware. So if you still insist, I'm not going to stop you. Wish you luck if you want to make it.
